Mobile Resistance Training
What is resistance training?
Resistance training is a physical exercise aimed at improving muscle strength by strengthening muscles against external resistance. Resistance training is an exercise where muscles are forced into contracting against an external resistance in order to increase their muscle strength, hypertrophy or endurance. Many types of resistance training can be found in the exercise world; external resistance may include dumbbells and weights, exercise tubing, resistance bands, and other objects causing muscle contraction. Muscles have to work harder to follow through on a motion when resistance is applied. A simple example of resistance training is the use of free weights. When the arm performs a curl with that extra weight, the bicep contracts against the resistance of the free weight. The result is enhanced power and building strength.
What is mobile resistance training?
Think of the Kayezen VECTOR as elastic resistance training…. reinvented! This single, 3-pound exercise tubing holds 8 separate bands that you can customize according to your needs. With a simple turn, you “dial in” the number of resistance tubes to pull for your exercise: either 4, 6, or 8 tubes. No more rummaging through your gym bag to switch from color-to-color of bands or tubing. You have from 10 lbs to over 100 lbs in one VECTOR. Using carabiners, one end hooks to an anchor point: a doorway, heavy exercise equipment like an exercise bike, or a fence at the ball field. You can train anywhere. The main concept that sets Kayezen VECTOR apart from other types of resistance training is its mobility and flexibility. The Kayezen VECTOR are designed to provide maximum versatility. The VECTOR can be set up almost anywhere, and get placed at different heights and multiple angles in order to target a huge range of traditional and more progressive stretches. The adjustability of this device allows for targeting major muscle groups than classic strength training tools.
How Does Mobile Resistance Training Work?
In order for a muscle to grow, it needs to be put to a challenge. Each time a muscle takes on extra resistance or more weight, it has to push hard to meet the physical requirements. As it does so, it undergoes tiny little tears in the muscle cells and fibers. The amazing human body responds quickly to the damage, and begins to regenerate the muscle, making it stronger in the process.
The Kayezen Vectors are made with a strong Kevlar exterior the bands provide continuous resistance, smooth throughout the entire range of the pull. Vectors are connected to an anchor at one end, and then looped around the body at the other end. The location of the band at the body varies depending on the resistance exercise and its purpose.
Benefits of Mobile Resistance Training
#1 Targeted Workout
#2 Endless Versatility
#3 Fast & Easy Setup
#4 Adjustable up to 100lbs of Resistance
#5 Workout Anywhere
One reason that many people choose to incorporate resistance training in their workout routine is to strenghten your muscles. A review published in 2016 looked at the relationship between regular resistance training and increases in muscle mass, and found that an increased resistance training volume leads to more gains in muscle hypertrophy.
Again, the versatility of mobile resistance training is one of its greatest assets, as it allows it to be applied to all sports and types of training, and can be tweaked to enhance the natural movements of the sport with additional mobility, balance, and muscle strength. Using the Kayezen Vectors at MOTUS Specialists Physical Therapy Orange County lets you train for full range of motion and stability where it’s needed, which will help you perform at your highest capability.
Difference Between Banded Resistance Training and Traditional Lifting Weights?
The main difference between banded resistance training and traditional weight lifting is that banded resistance training uses elastic bands to provide resistance, while traditional lifting uses free weights or machines. Banded resistance training is more portable and versatile than traditional lifting weights, and can be used for a wider range of exercises. Traditional lifting weights is thought to be primarily for building muscle mass, while banded resistance training is better for improving strength, flexibility, and balance. Both means of resistance training have their benefits, and it is ultimately up to the individual to decide which is best for them.
Banded Resistance Training versus Body Weight Training?
Banded resistance training uses elastic bands to provide resistance, while body weight training uses just your own body weight. While body weight exercises don’t require use of equipment, as your body weight is the challenge there are limitations to how much you can do. The benefits of using resistance bands is that it can provide variable resistance, which means the band gets harder to stretch as you pull on it, making it a more challenging workout. Additionally, bands are portable and can be used for a wider range of exercises than just body weight exercises. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to choose which type of training is best for them. Again, both means of resistance training have their benefits, and a combination of both may be the best option for you.
Is Mobile Resistance Training Right For Me?
Our mobile resistance training isn’t just for the athletic. This innovative tool has proven to help strengthen your muscles and balance in the elderly, and to enhance recovery for patients coming back from an injury. One systematic review from 2017 looked at the benefits of resistance training with the physically frail elderly, and concluded that one to six sessions each week could significantly increase strength and functionality.
If you are looking to improve your muscle strength and balance after an injury, surgery, or after a period of immobility and low strength, our mobile resistance training may be able to help you.
Take-Aways About the Best Resistance Training Program for You
There are many different types of resistance training programs, and it can be confusing to know which one is right for you. Here are a few key points to consider when deciding on a resistance training program:
- Traditional weight lifting may be best if your goal is to build muscle mass.
- Banded resistance training is more portable and versatile than traditional weight lifting, and can be used for a wider range of exercises.
- Body weight training is good for improving strength, balance, and flexibility, but has limitations in terms of how much weight you can lift.
- Mobile resistance training can be used by both athletes and those looking to improve their muscle strength and balance.
- A combination of weight lifting, banded resistance training, and bodyweight exercises may be the best option for you. Talk to your MOTUS physical therapist to create a program that is tailored specifically to your needs.
So, what’s the verdict? Are you convinced that mobile resistance training is the way to go? If you’re still on the fence, here are a few more reasons why you should give the Kayezen VECTOR mobile resistance training a try:
- You can do it anywhere – no need for special equipment or a gym membership.
- It’s a great way to improve muscle strength and balance after an injury or surgery.
